Kyle Hoogeveen grew up in Lake County, Indiana. He graduated in 2003 from Highland High School where he played for the varsity golf team for 4 years. After high school, Kyle attended Valparaiso University where he received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology in 3 years. Kyle then immediately enrolled in the JD/MBA program at Valparaiso University in 2006. By utilizing the joint degree program, he was able to earn his Masters in Business Administration in 2009 and his Juris Doctorate in 2010.
In 2007, Kyle started a landscaping company, which he ran and operated while being a full-time student in the joint JD/MBA program. He continued operations until 2015 when he sold the company.
Kyle then joined the Lake County Prosecutor’s Office where he worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney until 2018. While employed there, he handled matters ranging from traffic infractions all the way up to murder cases. After leaving the Prosecutor’s Office, Kyle spent a brief amount of time of-counsel at another law firm prior to opening up Hoogeveen Law, LLC in May of 2018. In July of 2020, he joined the team at Rubino Ruman Crosmer & Polen.
Currently Kyle serves as a public defender in the felony court rooms for the Lake County, Indiana Public Defender’s Office as well as the Schererville Town Court. In addition to protecting the rights of those charged with crimes, Kyle has turned his attention to helping the elderly and those seeking to protect their estates by offering services ranging from a simple will and enhanced powers of attorney all the way up to a complex asset protection plan that qualifies an individual for Medicaid.
In his free time, Kyle enjoys spending time with his family and dogs. He enjoys golfing during the summer and playing guitar.
