Paralegals/Legal Assistants

An important task for paralegals is assisting attorneys in prepare for closings, hearings, trials, and corporate meetings. Paralegals might investigate the facts of cases and ensure that all relevant information is considered. They also identify appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials that are relevant to assigned cases. After they analyze and organize the information, paralegals may prepare written reports that attorneys use in determining how cases should be handled.

We have 6 paralegals to assist with our case loads. We want you to have the utmost confidence in each member who may work on your case so would like to introduce you to each of our legal assistants.

Patricia Zegley
Attended Roosevelt University and graduated a certified paralegal with Honors. Patricia has been a Paralegal with Terrence Rubino since 1988.

Theresa Thompson
Began working as a legal secretary 16 years ago in the personal injury field, and has worked as a paralegal for the past 9 years.

Melissa Commons
Melissa is a 1995 graduate of Indiana University Northwest with an Associate of Science in Health Information Technology. In addition to working in the health information field, Melissa has over 18 years experience as a legal secretary in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation.

Donna Ivanov
Donna has been a paralegal with Terrence Rubino since 1993. Donna received her Associates of Applied Science Degree from South Suburban College and graduated with honors.

Lydia Mireles
Lydia is a graduate of the Sawyer College of Business and obtained a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from the Merrillville Adult Education Program in 1995. Lydia is fluent in Spanish and utilizes her bilingual skills in her legal work with firm clients.

Anitra Alsterda
Anitra has been working as a legal assistant with our Indiana law firm since 2004. She graduated with an Associates Degree with Honors from Brown Mackie College in Merrillville.

Legal Case Investigator

It should come as no suprise that a key part of our legal team is a dedicated investigative team. Our legal firm is one of the only to be known for having a full-time, in-house, investigator. What this means for our clients is special attention to the details that can make or break a case.

Joseph Bukowski
Joseph Bukowski obtained a B.A. degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University in 1990. He worked for several years with one of the largest insurance companies in the nation. For more than 10 years, Joe has been an investigator for law firms handling personal injury cases.
